To the&nbsp;<strong>Registration is now open at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/videoconf-colibri.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_fmyohdrUSDy_5ZXyGQ70EA#\/registration\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">registration platform<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative integrates&nbsp;<strong>International Open Access Week 2026<\/strong>, with the aim of reinforcing the importance of reflecting on different models of scientific publication and building a more open and inclusive knowledge system.<br>Organized by<strong>&nbsp;FCCN, digital services unit of FCT<\/strong>The session aims to promote an appreciation of the challenges and opportunities associated with open access scientific publishing, discussing pathways that contribute to a more open, sustainable, and equitable knowledge ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The costs of scientific communication<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting from the question of who bears the costs of scientific publication and what its value is, the webinar will address different funding models currently used in the context of open access. The discussion will seek to analyze the impact of these models on the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, as well as the challenges they pose to higher education institutions, research centers, funders, and researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The session will also explore the role of Open Science infrastructures and services available in Portugal, through FCCN, the digital services unit of FCT, highlighting its contribution to promoting more transparent and accessible practices in scientific communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Open Research Europe (ORE)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another of the highlighted topics will be&nbsp;<strong>Open Research Europe (ORE)<\/strong>This initiative provides a scientific publishing platform aligned with the principles of Open Science.
