Concepts

Accepted Manuscript – version of the article accepted for publication including all changes made as a result of the peer review process.

APC (article processing charges) – fee paid to the publisher to make an article free at point of access

Corresponding author – author that submits the publication.

Gold Open Access – via Golden Route – the article is open and available in the platform of the publisher. This route might require payment of APC. 

Green Open Access – via Green Route – the article is uploaded by the authors to a repository where it becomes open. Not all publishers accept this route. Those who do may demand an period, during which access is restricted.

Creative Commons, CC, Licenses:

CC BY License – authors allow third parties to use the work freely, including comercial use, and derived work.

CC BY-NC-ND – authors do not allow comercial use nor derived work. Only redistribution is allowed.

Hybrid journal – subscription journal in which some of the articles are open access.

Pre-print – is the version of the article before peer review or editing, as submitted by an author to the journal.

Post-print – is the peer reviewed, edited, formatted and typeset version of the article.
